El Santuario Books & Conversations: On Vanishing

This week I started reading “On Vanishing: Mortality, Dementia, and What It Means to Disappear,” by Lynn Casteel Harper

And that’s when it hit me, “Narrate the books you are reading Alicia! Narrate the books you are reading and create a space for people to gather to discuss those books and share what is coming up for them.”

Sometimes we read books and don’t have anyone to share our inner most thoughts with. And so I am happy to share that we are creating a space where we can meet weekly (for now) to discuss the themes from very specific works. Our first book is On Vanishing because what I haven’t shared publicly is that my mother has been diagnosed with early onset dementia. I have not had the language to discuss it. I still don’t.
