El Santuario Books & Conversations: On Vanishing

This week I started reading “On Vanishing: Mortality, Dementia, and What It Means to Disappear,” by Lynn Casteel Harper

And that’s when it hit me, “Narrate the books you are reading Alicia! Narrate the books you are reading and create a space for people to gather to discuss those books and share what is coming up for them.”

Sometimes we read books and don’t have anyone to share our inner most thoughts with. And so I am happy to share that we are creating a space where we can meet weekly (for now) to discuss the themes from very specific works. Our first book is On Vanishing because what I haven’t shared publicly is that my mother has been diagnosed with early onset dementia. I have not had the language to discuss it. I still don’t. But what I do hope is to be in community with those who are seeking community. Perhaps you are someone who is a caregiver of a loved one, has a family member living with dementia/alzheimers or some other disability that you would really understand better. Perhaps you are grieving. Perhaps you are someone who just wants to be part of a spiritual family. Join us for El Santuario Books & Conversations. Our first meeting is next Wednesday, June 1, 2022 @ 8:30PM.
