About the Event

On the feast day of San Miguel Arcángel, I will be holding a private candle ceremony in my home in Santo Domingo.
San Miguel is a great defender—the one we call upon when we are in battle, when we need protection, when something has a hold on us and we are ready to be free.
In my Lucumí tradition, I recognize this energy through my father Oggún: the force that cuts through obstacles, clears the path, protects us, and gives us the strength to keep moving.
This ritual is for the battles we are ready to name.
